Though fictional in name, what we are interested in ourselves is not fictional...Well at least not for some. This is a community that wishes to explore, discuss and discover what lies behind the facet of normality that washes over our world. We seek to live by a motto of "with open eyes and open mind", we hope to enlighten ourselves to things that may exist and were once believed in. To sift through the fanciful stories that man has created over the years to find the kernel of truth. That when we hear something in the dead of night, it isn't because that's our fear and paranoia... that's because something which does go bump in the night is watching you...

Though some of our topics may deal and discuss with religions, we are no way affiliated with any religious order, sect or cult... and as such we neither condemn NOR condone any such beliefs or practices that are associated with them. We are not trying to teach or preach to people the "right path" or that we can help them achieve a sense of enlightenment. All we are trying to do is portray a sense of understanding to those that want to believe... and maybe guide those that are gifted...

To further our means of guidance and understanding, we have a chatroom on DA to allow our members to have an open discussion of various topics, which is open to the general public here, though keep in mind there are rules that must be followed in #DarkHolm, being the name of our chatroom.

Celestial/Nephillim

Though commonly referred to as Angel-kin, Nephillim are what one would called an “angel” off-spring or descendant. With such a label as Angel, being a word with much religious connotations, the term Nephillim seeks to remove religious context from what they are.

Nephillim are individuals that have an affinity or soul of that of a spiritually ascendant being, be it an angel, demon or otherwise. Many Nephillim feel the presence of “phantom” spiritual wings, which they themselves can both physically feel and see, but are otherwise invisible to the outside world, except as the spiritual presence of something brushing up against us. Also, many Nephillim feel a higher calling to act as guides to others, in both sin and enlightenment.

Otherkin
These are people who describe themselves as being non-human or having a connection to a mythical archetype and or creature. Most otherkin believe that they have non-human aspects that are spiritual, physical or religious in nature. Such as been human in physical sense but, non-human in a mental or spiritual one, others claim to feel limbs that aren't there, i.e. wings, claws, a tail, horns, as such. Some otherkin attribute this discrepancy to reincarnation or having the soul of another species. Vampires, Shifters, Therianthropes, Elemental-born all fit into the otherkin definition but in saying that they each still have there own identity and importance. For example: It’s kind of like there's Human, and then there's Asian and even further still there's Chinese, Malay, Malaysian, Korean.

Shamanism

This is a form of religious, medical beliefs and practices that was originally centered in central Asia, old America and Siberia, but also many of the ancient less-developed civilizations of the world. Shamanism is characterized by the ability of the Shaman to communicate with the spirit world to provide healing, guidance, wisdom and sometimes cause human suffering by forming a special relationship with, or gaining control over, spirits. Shamans have been credited with the ability to control the weather, divination, the interpretation of dreams, astral projection, and traveling to upper and lower worlds. Shamanistic traditions have existed throughout the world since prehistoric times.

Therianthrope

A person who has an affinity with a creature such as one from: Feline, Canine, Avian, Ursine, among others. Whether that affinity is physically, mentally and/or spiritually, the person often find themselves set apart from normal life. Therianthropy has existed for centuries in tribal cultures across the globe like such as the Native American Indians and the Aborigines. Also in popular religions such as Buddhism, but the word itself is a recent coinage.
